Friends of PVD World Music Institute
We are PVD World Music Institute. We are a 501 (1)(c) non profit funded by African Refugees in Rhode Island. We promote, celebrate and preserve African heritages through music, arts and education.
Many African Heritages have been passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth. However, due to the ever-changing world, these traditions are in danger of dying.
For example, this instrument called Inanga used to be the national instrument of Burundi. But Today, only a few people know how to play it.
In order to preserve traditional music and arts of Africa such as this instrument, PVD World Music has been creating awareness all over RI by hosting more than 50 concerts and two African Film Festivals in the midst of the pandemic safely. We have contributed more than $70,000.00 toward artists’ stipends.
In order for PVD World Music to continue bringing awareness of this African heritage, we need to continue our programs in music, arts, film and education.
Today, we have a great opportunity to build our team by hiring from youth in the refugee community so that the African youth can learn these traditions and pass it on to the next generation. Please join our growing community and help us raise $150,000.00 to make that team a reality and help us preserve and share our heritages with the world.
