PVD World Music presents @tamikrest and museum legs July 22nd, 2023.

We are thrilled to announce our return to Dexter Park ( The armory) with a series of a captivating blend of traditional and fusion global sounds and dances performed by talented artists representing diverse cultures from around the world.

We are thrilled to announce that Tamikrest will join us to guide us into the world music of all things Tamasheq poetry and culture.

About Tamikrest:

Tamikrest, derived from the tamasheq word for "junction" or "connection," is a band whose diverse members reflect its name. With a fusion of Touareg identity and modern rock influences, their music pays homage to their cultural roots while exploring themes of yearning for freedom. Through their songs, Tamikrest aims to bring Tamasheq poetry and culture to a global audience beyond the vast expanse of the Saharan desert. Originating in Kidal, Mali, the band's journey…

 PVD World Music aims to promote, celebrate and enrich the musical traditions and arts of African refugees and immigrants in Rhode Island for present and future generations. Each year, we host over 30 concerts free of charge to the public and in diverse communities in Rhode Island. We also host a five-day African Film and Arts Festival through Providence.
