About the event

PVD World Music and The Africa Initiative at the Watson School cordially invites you to celebrate the 7th Edition of the African Film & Arts Festival.

The five-day annual festival is organized by PVD World Music, bringing together films, filmmakers, artists, musicians, and community members from Africa and the African diaspora. Further information about the full festival schedule can be found on the PVD World Music website.


The festival returns to the Africa Initiative at the Watson School at Brown University on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Stephen Robert ’62 Hall, 280 Brook Street. The evening will include a live music performance by Becky Bass, with food and refreshments provided.

The evening will culminate with a screening of South African filmmaker Kurt Otabenga Orderson’s documentary Ondas: Waves, followed by a filmmaker Q&A. Please join us!

Support Us! PVD World Music aims to promote, celebrate and enrich the musical traditions and arts of African refugees and immigrants in Rhode Island for present and future generations. Each year, we host over 30 concerts free of charge to the public and in diverse communities in Rhode Island. We also host a five-day African Film and Arts Festival throughout Providence.
